I love weddings......

......... I still remember mine almost 3 years ago and it was definitely the best day of my life. I absolutely love being married. I recommend it to anyone who finds the perfect person.

So I had an incredibly exhausting weekend. We had the wedding ceremony and reception on the Saturday and then we had a big party for the whole family on the Sunday.

I hated my hair. It wasn't what I asked for I wanted looser curls and a bigger "boof" (or whatever it's called...I wanted more height on the head). I found my hairstyle so boring.  It cost me so much as well. I was at the hairdresser for almost 3 hours and even though I was the first to be prepped I was the last to get my hair done. Bloody hell I was so pissed off. I didn't want to spend too much time there because we had to drive to the city for the ceremony and reception. I still had to do my own makeup.
After the 3 hour hairdresser session we had an hour to spare for makeup up. My sister and my lovely cousin dropped by my parent's house to do our makeup together. It was girly and it was a lot of fun.

The ceremony was simple and beautiful.

While my dress wasn't a Versace (It was TEMT haha), and my shoes weren't Jimmy Choo (They were from NOVO) and my hand bag wasn't Louis Vuitton (it was from some online shop); I think I scrubbed up well enough = ).

We had some time to kill (about 3 and a half hours) before the reception, so we decided to walk around the city. It was so difficult in heels so I'm so glad I brought my havies with me. My cousin and my mother had to buy some cheap flip flops from a souvenir shop.
In our pretty clothes we had a snack at McDonald's. I didn't eat. I don't think I've eaten a burger there for over 6 years already. So my cousin and I decided to be cam whores.

The men scrubbed up well too.

We were on top of the Sydney Opera house steps and I wanted to eat something so I hiked my butt back down to a vendor and bought myself a Magnum (my favourite). Being the overexcited idiot that I am; I was happily licking the ice cream while walking back to the steps, I dropped chocolate on my dress. Hence; the stain. Idiot.....

The reception was incredibly posh. My students have their formal here quite a lot.

I cannot believe we have been married for almost 3 years already. Time flies when you're having fun.

My parents have been married for almost 29 years and they are perfect for each other.

I love cupcakes. Not only are they pretty but they are delicious. I ate four. I am such a fatty.

The canapes were delicious. The picture above was duck in pastry and the one below (I forgot what it was called) but basically whipped parmesan with caviar on top. Yum.

What I loved was that we got to choose from the menu instead of your typical alternate drop. Eric got the scallops for an entree. I chose the pork belly with escargot ravioli. It was sooooo good.

While the entrees were awesome; the mains were ORGASMIC. My sister got the fish (forgot what fish) with risotto. I got the most beautiful lamb I have ever tasted.

Dessert: My mother got the black forest cake. I forgot what my dad's cake was. But I got myself the guava panacotta. It was soooo beautiful.

The bride had the best Bonbonierre. Her friend hand painted these jewellery boxes.

The night ended with cupcakes galore! I ate all four flavours. I also loved the fact that we could order REAL coffee..not the crap in the jug. I got a skim cappuccino.
All in all it was a great day. I love dressing up and eating great food. I have about 3 more weddings to attend this year and I cannot wait. I love weddings.

Yin and Yang...

Eric is my complete and complimentary opposite which is why we are perfect for each other. We are Yin and Yang.

Early morning marking.

One essay can take up to 40 minutes to mark and there are about 40 papers here. Sometimes I wonder why I chose teaching as a profession. I do have a Public Relations degree so I could perhaps do that. It obviously isn't for the money. But regardless of my constant complaining, I actually do love my job. The marking is the worse part though. And the crappy pay and conditions. But...... I love being in the classroom and the kids are fantastic. There are pros and cons to every job and life, I suppose. But I do love teaching. That should be my mantra when I feel like absolute crap. Have a great day all.

Valentine's Day

Apparently, St Valentine attempted to convert emperor Claudius II to Christianity which resulted in his execution (beheading). There doesn't really seem to be a consistent historical basis to the story but whatever the story is, let's just say it really has nothing to do with love and flowers. Hallmark and florists make a crap load of money today hahahah.
We don't make a big deal out of Valentine's day (We did in High School though. I would have cried if Eric didn't get me flowers and a present hahaah I was such a brat....still am I suppose).

We decided to eat...a lot. First stop Pho Pasteur and then Max Brenner.

Sydney has been overbearingly hot as of late. But it was a nice cool change for once and I could actually wear a cardigan and a scarf.

Grilled pork rice paper rolls with peanut sauce.

Special beef noodle soup (Eric's). I just ordered regular beef noodle. I didn't think I could keep down the tripe.

Eric sort of looks like Max Brenner below hahahaha.

Waiting for our orders. I am not really a chocolate person. But having Max Brenner every now and then is heaven.

Chocolate Babka with chocolate dipping sauce and waffles with strawberry. For the non-Australians who read this; Max Brenner chocolate is the best tasting chocolate EVER. By the way, babka is a Jewish cinnamon scroll right?? (I'm making an assumption since I always used to watch the Nanny and Fran Fine's mother makes it).  I remembered that Max Brenner is actually Jewish so of course it made sense for this to be on the menu. It was awesome dipped in that chocolate sauce.

Skim hot chocolate. I have always wanted to steal the hug mugs. They're a bloody rip off they are.

This was so good! Anyway, in winter the hug mug is great because it keeps your hands warm when you sip.

Ended the day by coming over my mama's place where she gave me some food to take home (as usual). My mother always makes so much food so that I don't have to cook. And believe me, I'm not complaining since most of her dishes are healthy.

Happy V-Day to all.

I wish I could afford a Versace dress, a Louis Vuitton purse, and Jimmy Choo shoes........

....but I have to settle for chiffon maxi dress from TEMT, shoes from NOVO,  a charcoal grey clutch purse that I bought online (still waiting for the package) and some dress jewelry from DIVA. My outfit including accessories (purse, jewelry, shoes) costs exactly $117 (SCORE!). The whole ensemble is for a wedding that I will be attending in a few week's time. Will post pics then! But for now, I'll just dream of shopping along Rodeo Drive in LA .......

To quote the Everly Brothers; "dreaaaaammmm dream dream dream dreaaaaaaaaammm...dream dream dream......."

Books for the coffee table should have more pictures and less words. Recent purchases.

Some recent books I purchased for my coffee table. I love Amazon.com

I got "Postcard from the Boys" by Ringo Starr (another Beatles book. I am a huge fan. Well...obsessed actually) and "The Sartorialist" by photographer Scott Schuman (the photographs are from his awesome blog: http://www.thesartorialist.blogspot.com)/ I love his blog but having his work compiled in a book is brilliant.

The front has a hologram and when you move the book up and down it "magically" could morph into Ringo's face or an old picture of Paul, George and John.

Ringo was a brilliant drummer but "technically" not good (I know that sounded reduntant). What I meant was that being a left handed drummer playing on a right handed kit made it difficult for him to do all the fancy things like drum rolls (he couldn't do them). But he is arguably one of the greatest and most influential drummers in history. Because Paul was a perfectionist (and sort of bossy), there were many Beatles songs where he played the drums and not Ringo. When Ringo quit for awhile, the boys wanted him back and sent him flowers and telegrams. Paul sent this postcard (I love the postcard pic on the left) which said, "You are the greatest drummer in the world. Really."

I've had a crush on Paul McCartney since I was in the first grade but didn't know he was such a prima donna until I watched Anthology. This was his attempt at an apology for causing some arguments. I actually saw a clip of him and George having a little tiff. Paul was very disagreeable.

This postcard was written by John right before the court case against Paul for the disolution of the Beatles. It says; "Who'd have thought it would come to this.... Love John and Yoko". How sad that it ended but what I found fantastic was that even after they broke up, they still sent each other postcards. I love The Beatles.

There were other postcards from around the world which were great but the above 3 are the ones I find interesting. Absolutely one of my favourite book purchases.

I picked this up at Borders (and then got it at Amazon.com because it was 70% cheaper) and it was great with a coffee and a muffin. I am not fashionista and I wish I could throw together the most incredible fashion ensemble like the people in the photographs. Scott Schuman finds really fashionable (and random) people from cities like Milano, New York and Paris and takes photographs of them on the street. He captures the most wonderful shots and below are just some random pages from the book. His blog is famous and is always updated: http://www.thesartorialist.blogspot.com/

The above picture is the photographer Scott Schuman. He is so handsome....
